Our way of working

gunnercooke Switzerland operates as part of a global fee share firm built for entrepreneurial lawyers and advisors. Our way of working is simple: we give senior professionals the freedom to run their own practice, backed by a platform that removes the friction of traditional firms.

Do good, faster. Leave things better than we found them. Re-invest in our people.

The principles

01

Senior-led

Every client is served by a partner with at least ten years of post-qualification experience. No hierarchies of juniors to manage.

02

Fee share

Partners keep the majority of what they bill. The platform covers infrastructure, compliance, and brand.

03

One network

Swiss partners draw on the full global network across the UK, US, Germany, and Austria — at cost.

04

Commercially minded

We write and advise in plain language. Outcomes, not legal abstractions.

How we work with clients

We begin every engagement with a short scoping conversation — before any fees are incurred — to agree on the commercial objective, the shape of the work, and the fee arrangement. Fixed fees, capped fees, and blended models are all available where they suit the matter.

We respond within the business day. For anything urgent, partners give clients their direct mobile number. There is no switchboard layer between the client and the person doing the work.

How we work together

  • Autonomy. Partners run their own practice, diary, and pricing.
  • Collaboration. Introductions across offices are expected, not optional. Referrals are tracked and credited transparently.
  • Quality. Peer review is a shared responsibility. Anything going out under the gunnercooke name is a reflection on all of us.
  • Confidentiality. Client and matter information stays on firm systems. Personal devices must meet the IT policy before being used for client work.

Compliance and risk

Swiss matters run under the Swiss Bar rules applicable to the responsible partner’s canton. Cross-border matters are co-led with a partner qualified in the relevant jurisdiction. Conflict checks are mandatory before any engagement letter is sent — no exceptions.

Getting help

For platform, billing, or compliance questions, use the Zurich operations channel. For cross-border introductions, start with the Offices & partners directory and reach out to the relevant partner directly.
